Thankful Thursday

Sonya at Truth for the Journey has passed the mantle of leading Thankful Thursdays on to Greg at Greg's General Store. Sonya was a wonderful leader for this meme and I have to say she couldn't have picked a better person to take on this role. So today I join Greg and all his followers for Thankful Thursday.

I am thankful that God led me to reconnect with my Jr High friend at this time and that He has a plan and a purpose for this.

I am thanful for all you sweet bloggy friends who have prayed for my friend and for me. It means so much to me.

I am thanful for the home that God has given me. I think about the people who are homeless and without a roof over their heads and my heart really goes out to them.

I am thankful for my SUV that God picked out for me several years ago. I had been praying for a passenger vehicle for a little while so that I could more easily, and safely  carry my sweet little cargo of grand-girls around but I never dreamed of anything like this SUV. It is exceedingly, abundantly above what I asked for or imagined.

I am thankful that I only have two payments left on the SUV and that debt will be gone. Yay!

I am thankful for the work that God has given, and that He uses me to touch other's lives like He does.

I am thankful that my bloggy friends still come by to visit me even though I haven't had much time to blog visit lately. I hope to improve on that soon.

Thank you LORD that you are my Yahweh-Yireh, that you will never leave me or forsake me, and that your love is everlasting. You are my all in all and I praise and worship you with all my heart. ~ In Jesus Name, Amen

Thankful Thursday at Truth 4 the Journey
Joining Sonya at Truth for the Journey for Thankful Thursday. Thank you Sonya for hosting this.
This isn't your typical Thankful Thursday post and I have listed more than five. Sorry for breaking the rules this time.

Can I be honest here? Sometimes not having a man around who will take care of stuff like this, drives me to the brink of tears and cussing like a sailor. I didn't cuss like a sailor, in case you're wondering.

Instead, God sent me over to visit Karen at Surviving Motherhood. Karen was encouraging us with the Psalms. Specifically this one that speaks of boasting in the Lord.

I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together. Psalm 34:1-3

So I cranked up some Casting Crowns and praised, worshiped, and boasted in the Lord.

  1. Today I am thankful for our Veterans and the sacrifices they have made for our freedom. It was so wonderful to see so many people honoring our military men and women on Veteran's Day yesterday.
  2. I am thankful for Sue J who remembered my birthday and made me a bloggy birthday cake.
  3. I am thankful for Karen for redirecting my focus.
  4. I am thankful for Tammy, Heidi, and Kelly who helped me feel normal in dealing with this battery situation.
  5. I am thankful for Warren's advice and perspective that gave me some direction.
  6. I am thankful for Alice and her husband who even called me to see if they could help and prayed that God would help.
  7. I'm thankful for Kurt who told me to get away from the positive terminal. That's what you get from a military, Christian biker type, protection. :) I really wasn't going to mess with the positive but I sincerely appreciate the concern.
  8. I'm thankful for Rosel for asking her husband and providing a suggestion.
  9. I'm thankful for Kat who was also concerned about the positive terminal and suggested AAA. I didn't even think about AAA. Will they come out to disconnect a terminal and they reconnect it after a minute?
  10. I'm thankful for Greg's advice about the terminals too.
If you are wondering why I want to disconnect my battery terminal, it is just to reset the Service Engine Soon light. My gas cap was popping off and it caused the light to come on. I replaced the cap with a new one but the light won't go off. With the light on, it won't pass inspection so I can get my new tags. I can't afford to take it to a dealer and pay for them to *find* something wrong with it. If I disconnect the the terminal, it will reset the light. If there is still really something else wrong then the light will come back on even after I reset it. It's a very simple procedure... if you're a man.

Thank you LORD for all of my bloggy friends who make me feel not so alone when simple things turn into major undertakings. I ask that you pour out rich blessings on them this day and throughout their lives. ~ In Jesus Name, Amen

Thankful Thursday at Truth 4 the Journey

I'm joining Sonya and all the others for Thankful Thursday today. Thank you Sonya for hosting this so faithfully every week.

  1. I'm thankful that God has been encouraging me with so many messages and scriptures of my worth in His eyes and that He loves me even when I mess up. It's sometimes difficult to see from His perspective.
  2. I'm thankful that He hears my prayers and saved me about $2000.00 on plumbing repairs when I could just use a $12.00 bottle of root killer to keep the tree roots out of my sewer line.
  3. I'm thankful for the business He has been sending my way and that He always carries me through my work. I'm also thankful for the extra time I have now that I'm not watching the girls during the day so I don't feel like I'm working all the time. But not having them here sure is an adjustment.
  4. I'm thankful for the way God orchestrated the circumstances that led me to a new church where the girls have more opportunity for spiritual growth.
  5. I'm thankful for the opportunity to be a contributing author for Titus 2 in Action. It launched this week and is led by our dear Sonya who also leads us in Thankful Thursday. I hope you will join us there.

Thank you Lord that you are in every detail of my life. That you love me in spite of my weaknesses and flaws. That you care for me, and that you won't drop me. Help me to view myself and others through your eyes Lord. ~ In Jesus Name Amen

Thankful Thursday at Truth 4 the Journey

I am joining Sonya today for Thankful Thursday. Feel free to pop over to her blog, grab the button, and join in.

1. Thank you Lord, for being so faithful to provide for me during this time of financial concern. I don't know what Your plan is or how You will work it all out, but I choose to Trust You.

2. Thank you Lord that my grand-girls pray for the specific needs of others, including me. What a joy that is to hear.

3. Thank you Lord that the cat didn't get Tobi's eye, that the vet only charged me half of the cost of an office visit, and that Tobi did not need to be sedated. She doesn't let anyone do anything to her, except me, and then cautiously. This vet and his assistant were excellent in the way they handled her.

4. Thank you Lord for not giving up on me. You are faithful even when I am not. Keep me under your wing.

5. Thank you Lord for all the rain we have had lately.

Thankful Thursday at Truth 4 the Journey

It's time for Sonya's Thankful Thursday and I'm late! So without further ado...

1. The first thing I'm thankful for is that jury duty was over at 9:30 this morning. WooHoo! Actually I wouldn't have minded serving today since it was at the city Municipal Court instead of the county.

2. I am thankful that parking at the city Municipal Court is FREE! Not just any parking but the BEST parking is free. The covered parking is free. Can't beat that.

3. I am thankful that I woke up on time (I am NOT a morning person) and wasn't late for jury duty ... even though about half of the other potential jurors strolled in up to 30 minutes after we were told to be there.

4. I am thankful for the recent growth in understanding that God has given me concerning Joy. Yes, yes I had all the head knowledge of it but it is still something that is felt down inside and I really didn't have that for a very long time. My mind is on eternity and what He is preparing for us so much of the time these days. I have so many questions about what it will be like and for ALL of time. That just boggles the brain.

5. I am thankful for the list of thank yous that I hear daily as expressed by my grandaughters below.

Thank you for...
1. This food
2. Our friends
3. You (Jesus)
4. Each other (named)
5. Family (named)
6. Our plates
7. Our cups
8. The rain to water the plants
9. Making the rain stop
10. Tobi, Sasha, Winnie, Shilo (the dogs)
11. That you (Jesus) died for us
12. Your (Jesus) love
13. Grandma's glasses so she can see (Note: I can see without my glasses too. :) )
14. The forks
15. Christmas (and other named holidays)

Thankful Thrusday - Reflections and Resolutons 2009

Thankful Thursday at Truth 4 the Journey

Happy New Year to all of my dear bloggy friends! I am joining Sonya's Thankful Thursday today as I reflect on 2008 and set my sights on what God has in store for 2009.

This last year has been an incredible year of discovering God in so many new ways. I think the central theme for me this year has been Trust. God has challenged me to trust Him in ways that are new to me and I have found Freedom, and Adventure, and Awe of Him like I have never known. I want to live my life in pure and simple Trust and Obedience, without the safety net.

In these last couple of months I have felt the winds of change beginning to blow in. God is moving and I sense a new course taking shape. New possibilities are beginning to take root, doors of opportunity are beginning to open, new ideas are brewing, and excitement is in the air. I am looking forward to stepping into the unknown with my God and Trusting Him with the outcome.

1 - Thank you Lord for the incredible peace you have given me this year in these unusual and somewhat confusing circumstances that you have placed me in. Your provision has been unfailing.

2 - Thank you Lord for bringing me into the blogosphere. This has been a blessing that I never would have imagined. You have brought healing to my heart through the many people I've met here and their writings. Healing through tears and through wonderful laughter. You have brought me lasting friendships with many wonderful sisters in Christ. And you have even used me to be a blessing to others here.

3 - Thank you Lord for the growth I have seen in my grandaughters. This year I have watched them go from listening to me pray, to praying their own LONG list of "Thank yous" and "Help Mes". They have learned scripture and are excited to do so. They have brought questions about you to me at times that were not expected. Continue to draw them near to you Lord and reveal yourself to them.

4 - Thank you Lord for some of the changes I am beginning to see lately, and the new opportunities that you have set before me. I still don't know exactly what you have in store but I will follow you. Please give me clear direction and wisdom in decisions.

5 - Thank you Lord for the recent help you have brought my way in things that were just a little too much for me by myself.

Thankful Thursday - December 18

Thankful Thursday at Truth 4 the Journey

I'm joining Sonya at Truth 4 the Journey again in listing 5 things that I am thankful for. Visit Sonya and join in todays Thankful Thrusday.

1. I am thankful for the love, encouragement, kindness and GIFTS from my bloggy friends. You don't know how much you all have done for me and mean to me.

2. I am thankful for my warm and comfortable bed. I often think about those who don't have a bed and might be out in the cold with barely anything to keep them warm and comfortable. This is truely something I cherish.

3. I am thankful for the ladies in my Sunday School class. They are such a dear group of godly women and I love when we get an opportunity to get together like recently at our Christmas party.

4. I am thankful that God has allowed me to stay home this last year. I have really needed this even more than I knew.

5. I am thankful for my dog Tobi. She is so good and so faithful to me. She loves me unconditionally, obeys me (almost) all the time, and has learned to trust me even when she doesn't understand (most of the time). She has been quite a work in progress since she was a puppy. Sounds a little like my progress with my Master.

Thankful Thursday - August 7

Psalm 34:8 Image

Well it seems that I'm running late as usual. But I'm here and reflecting on my blessings. This is something I really need to do more of.

I am thankful for the income that God has provided. Even though it doesn't seem to work out on paper, my bills always get paid and on time. God has done amazing things in the area of my finances this year. My income has decreased substantially but I have not felt the loss. Thank you Lord, and forgive me for not always being as grateful as I should.

I am thankful for being able to get together with my friend Kathie for dinner this week. She is such a sweet lady with a deep love for the Lord. We didn't get to use up all our words that night so we're going to try again this weekend. :)

I am thankful that God shows up to encourage me so frequently. I am so prone to sink but He picks me up, gives me a hug, and tells me to take another step. All the while He stays right there ready to do it again. Thank you Lord. Please forgive my whining and help me to see you more clearly.

I am thankful that my grandaughter Olivia got to go to Bible Camp this week. I pray that she is having a great time, drawing nearer to Christ, and comes home safely tomorrow.

I am thankful that God can always be trusted, even when it doesn't feel like it.

I am thankful that the weekend is almost here!!! :D
