Tobi LOVES Christmas

This is my dog Tobi. She is well loved, some people say spoiled. I've had Tobi since she was 4 weeks old. She was a give-away out of the back of a van and she was the ony one left. She had fleas and worms and was still a bit too young to be weaned but I took her to the vet and we got her all fixed up.

Tobi is a bit quirky at times but she is very smart and well behaved. She is part Chow and part Lab which, at times creates some internal conflict that is clearly visible and quite comical.

She learns very fast. On her very first Christmas she caught on to this game everyone was playing of happily ripping up paper and throwing it all over the house. Pretty soon we noticed that she was running around doing the same. So when I gave her her Christmas present she knew immediately what to do with it. She was delighted to discover that after the fun paper ripping part you get a prize! And very often, you can rip that up to find out what makes that squeaking noise. Within moments there is paper and stuffing all over the house, and one very content little puppy dog.

Every year she knows when Christmas is coming and starts checking out every bag brought into the house looking for the gifts she is sure to get. If she even hears the rustle of a bag she is right there to see what it might be. Even my friends have started buying her gifts just so they can watch her.

Can you just see that look of anticipation on her face?
"Is it time to open the presents!!??"

"Now!? Can we do it now!!??"

Where's is yours Tobi? Where's your present?

Yes she knows the stocking is hers and there is another one under the tree that is also hers and she knows that one is the best one. She is very good and won't open her presents until I tell her it is ok.

I'm going to try to get it on video this year but not sure how easy that will be.
So do your animals love Christmas too?

She does look quite anxious to open gifts. She's a beautiful dog Edie. Our dogs haven't shown an interest in the gifts but they do sniff their stockings hanging from the mantle.

I hope Tobi has a Very Merry Christmas with you :)

Sharon

Oh, a follow-up post!! Yea!! This is so amazing. If you do manage to secure video (and I definitely understand how difficult that might be), it will be an instant hit!

Tobi, hang in there...just a few more days.

She actually looks like she is excited about Christmas. I bet she is a hoot to watch. I tried getting presents for our cats but they could care less. We do put out extra bird seeds for the wild birds and since it is Christmas, I even put a little something out for the rodents, I mean squrrels. :)

Our dog is getting on in years and has always been such a "barker". Barking at leaves the blow across the lawn, can get very irritating now that Max can't hear very well or remember that we are his family still barking every time we walk in the house, but we love him. He's in my Christmas tree pic, on the pink pillow in the back. He will probably have something under the tree, but our gifts come out Christmas Eve.
Merry Christmas

I bought some toys for my dog Bandit at Walmart. My husband and I were in the kitchen last week talking about gifts for our children. Bandit was in the room. I whispered what I got him for Christmas. My husband started laughing and said, "Barbara, he can't understand you. You don't have to lower your voice" lol. I forget he is not really one of the children!

Your dog is so cute. We has a poodle (whie apricot) when the children were little. My husband said we couldn't have a dog but he heard about this one on the radio and got her for $25.00. She thought she was part of the family.
We had her (Jojo) for 13 years. One day she was out looking for my Mom and a car hit her and just knocked her completely out. She was going blind also. My youngest daughter saw her laying in the middle of the road and started screaming. My husband heard her and a guy working for him picked her up with a shovel and buried her in our back yard. My husband had become attached to her and just couldn't do it. I was at work and I cried for at least 30 minutes. They are so much fun to have.
Hope you all have a Merry Christmas,
AliceE.

Edie,
Our lab-mix, Cheyenne, used to get a present, but she didn't really care, so now we just give her extra dog bones, or more people food as a treat.
When I was a kid, I had a pet duck, Penny. I would cut a little pine tree for her and put it in her duck house. I always gave her extra corn for Christmas. Now with my geese, I will give them a nice salad of organic lettuce, which Sam will hog down as fast as she can!
Love, Debra

Our dogs LOVE Christmas too. Zaccheus Francoise loves toy tires, Abe loves Hedge hogs, and Addie loves rawhides! They ALL LOVE to wear bandanas and are really good about wearing them!

My dogs know if its for them if its a bone or such (they can smell it), but I don't think they know stuffed animals. They do have a stocking.

Toby is so cute!
