Testimony Tuesday at Transparent Life

I'm joining Tracy at Transparent Life for Testimony Tuesday again. If you have a testimony you would like to bless us with, be sure to head over to her blog to join in.

Do you trust God for the little stuff? Do you pray about even the seemingly insignificant things? Nothing in our lives is insignificant to Him. He delights in being a part of our everyday, ordinary, mundane life.

Several years ago I decided I wanted to paint the outside of my house. Actually that would be the trim, gutters, and garage, since my house is all brick. I wasn't sure what colors would look good with the brick on my house and I was really worried about choosing a color. You know how sometimes a color can look so good on that little card but when you put it on a large space it can be a bit shocking? Well this was going to be the outside of my house. The part that is seen by the whole world. Ok just by my neighbors but you get my concern. I was also concerned that I would just choose something that didn't really look so good with my brick. So I prayed about it and asked God to choose the colors for me that would look good.

After sifting through cards and colors and comparing to my brick and praying and praying I decided on two colors. I got up early and started painting on one side of the house. I kept thinking the color didn't look the same as on the card. I thought maybe because the paint was still wet, it would look right when it dried. I painted several hours and just couldn't shake the thought that the color was off. I held the card up to it several times and finally decided that it didn't match the card. It was only off by a tiny bit but it made a difference and I knew I wouldn't be satisfied.

I stopped painting and took the paint back to Home Depot and showed them that it didn't match the card. They mixed up another can and it still didn't look right to me. It was lighter than the color on the card. The next color on the card was too dark and didn't quite match either, so I asked if they could make it halfway between the two colors. The man helping me said he could but the color on the card included one drop of red that he couldn't take it out. I said it was fine, I wasn't worried about one drop of red, so he mixed up my special order color that I could not take back if it wasn't right.

I took it home and started painting again and the color was perfect. I realized that the first color looked wrong because it was too light but also had a mild yellow tone to it. What I needed was something a little darker with a red tone to it. That one drop of red paint was exactly what I needed to get the right color to match my brick, and the only way to get it was to special mix the color. God knew that all along and arranged all of the circumstances so that I would end up with that single drop of red paint. He is Amazing!

Yes, God is truly amazing. Lately, I have more and more aware of how he is active and working in our lives, even in the 'little things' like a paint color.

Isn't it wonderful, Edie, how the Lord cares uniquely and personally cares about every detail in our lives? I was just sharing that with my daughter last night. She is trying to make a decision about whether or not to accept an invitation to a birthday party, and I told her to pray about it. She said, "Mom, God doesn't want to hear about this stupid little thing." I then had the opportunity to tell her just how much He does want her to come to Him about every single detail of her life!

And, as I read your story, I couldn't help but think about that one little drop of red paint. It reminded me of Christ's blood. Everyone's life was "off-color" until He entered the mix! :-)

We've been studying this very thing in our Sunday School class. I know God can take care of cancer, finances, unemployment, the "big" things. But do I really believe he cares about my flat tire, the unending housework, the cell phone bill that is way too much because of teenagers? Really? Yes to these and the color on the OUTSIDE of your house. Great post.

Isn't it such a blessing that our God cares about the "little" things too! I'm so glad He answered your prayer in such a way that demonstrated how much love he has for you!

I try to take care of the little things myself but like you, I sometimes have to ask God for help. I had the same thing happen at the Depot but the man working there refused to add the color I requested and insisted on ruining another can of paint but using the same color recipe. Oh well, I tired.

It is amazing how our Lord works all the circumstances of our lives together for our good and His glory.

One drop of red...thank you JESUS.

He truly is an amazing God! I always find comfort in Matthew 10:30 (and even the very hairs of your head are all numbered). If he has that numbered, then I know he knows all about me and wants me to bring it all to him, no matter how small/insignificant it may seem

bet you still like the color you painted! great testimony :)

Isn't it awesome how He is so faithful even during the "what seems insignificant" momemts? He treats all of his children so well. Really enjoyed this post.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a sweet comment. Watching the grand children is very uplifting. Many ask why I do, I tell them it's out of love for them and I've been instructed by the Good Lord to do so.

Have a beautiful, blessed week,
Tammy

A great testimony. Sometimes when I pray I think to myself, am I borinf God with somethings that seem trivial and small. But I always feel renewed when I speak to him about everything that is on my heart.

Hi Edie!!

First, thanks for participating in my "Pay It Forward". If you'll email me your address and favorite color, I'll get my surprise out to you!!

I love how God cares about us--even what we consider to be small and trivial--He is still there an still cares. It's taken me a while to realize that, and I'm beginning to see that even the smallest things in my eyes are important to God's eyes!

I scrolled down through your last post. Sorry the girls got that GI bug--I work in a physicians' office, and it's been spreading like wildfire!! It's gone through our all the employees not once, not twice, but three times!! And now, I'm down with strep throat!

I used to be immune to all these things having worked there for so long--my theory--a new strain of viruses that I haven't yet been exposed to!!

Thanks again!!

A true walk with God includes talking with Him over the small stuff, the big stuff, the mundane and the earth shattering. What a testimony to your walk.

I was looking for a photo!

I love the story...so many times we have to go through so many steps to get to the desired result it seems. I had to go back to "remix" our deck stain three times!!! (and half an hour round trip!) It is dark red and the first time I started applying it, it looked MAGENTA!! AARRGGHH!

so I took it back and then it looked BURGUNDY/PURPLE!

The third time, I had them open a can of premixed to get it close, but we added alot of colors to finally get it to look right.

It has always seemed painful to get the right red.
