God is Watching Over You

One weekend my grandma, and her sister, F, decided to take a day and go visit another of their sisters, L. It was about a 90 minute drive one way. On the way home, while driving down the freeway, a car with two hispanic men pulled alongside my grandma's car. After getting F's attention they motioned for the two elderly ladies to pull over to the shoulder. They pointed to the tires on grandma's car and made a rocking motion their hands.

I want to make a note here that the reason I am mentioning ethnic background is to give you a detailed visual. It's the same reason I use the word elderly to describe my grandma and her sister. God is in the details. He designed all nationalities and each of them has some features generally characteristic for that nationality. Hispanics generally aren't very tall people. In addition, there was a fair amount of racial tension in the area at the time. I am not making any derogatory statements about race so please don't take it that way. Now on with the story.

F told grandma she should pull over but grandma said she wanted to wait a minute for the men to leave. This was in California and at a time when car-jackings were on the rise. The car with the two men drove ahead so grandma pulled over to the shoulder.

Immediately another car with two more hispanic men pulled up behind them, and following it still another car pulled up behind that one. A very large african-american man got out of the last car, walked up to the car in front of his and told the two men to leave, that he would take care of the ladies.

The man walked over to grandma's car and asked what the problem was so the ladies explained what happened. The man, who was dressed in a suit, took his jacket off and climbed under their car to inspect the tire. After a moment he came back out and told my grandma he could find nothing wrong and to drive ahead of him for a bit so he could see the tire in motion. After driving for a little way, the man pulled up next to my grandma and gave her a thumbs up then drove away. We have always wondered if that man was an angel of the Lord.

The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Psalm 34:7

Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. Isaiah 46:4

Not only is His timing perfect, but God does not overlook one single detail in anything that He sets out to accomplish.

Eyanna just asked me last night about angels. Of course she pictured them wearing a white robe and golden halo.

After explaning to her that she would not see them like that she asked well will I know if they are angels. I said right away I don't know but later you would and then she said, well can't I just ask them?

She caught me off guard with that one and I thought for a moment and I said I didn't know if they would even know that they are an angel.

I've got some studying to do on that one.

Anyway, I understand the points you were making with referencing to age and ethniticiy because of typical stereotyping...something I am sometimes guilty of.

smooches,
Larie

Certainly God puts certain people and circumstances in our path to lead, protect, encourage etc. us.

Reminds me of a story about my bro in law, a surgeon, who came upon an accident, saved a lady's life, left when the EMT's arrived and most likely nobody knows who stopped and actually saved that lady's life.

Great story, Edie!

Thank you Edie. I would like to add that not all the angels on motorcycles are from hell. A leather jacket does not a hoodlum make.

I just wanted to add that your title has a way of making a guy feel paranoid. God bless you Heather. Yes I read the comments, and couldn't resist the chance to come back and say hi.

Hey Edie,

Thanks for your comment. It reminded me of a few verses I saw in Romans I considered adding to Turtle Tuesday.
Rom 9:21-24
21 Isn't it obvious that a potter has a perfect right to shape one lump of clay into a vase for holding flowers and another into a pot for cooking beans? 22 If God needs one style of pottery especially designed to show his angry displeasure 23 and another style carefully crafted to show his glorious goodness, isn't that all right? (message)
Last night I cooked beans(in the natural) I joked around with my prayer partner on Tuesday about doing whatever God wants me to do...even if it is cooking beans. Just trying to lay down everything and open my hands to HIS work. I think I am doing that and then something comes up and reminds me there is still much of Barbara in me. God let me know that Tuesday. Thank you Lord. My container constantly needs cleaning.
May you stop today Edie and feel God's love wash over you. Barbara

Wow, Edie. That's quite a story. Yes, I do believe in angels. It's hard to trust people in our world for so many reasons. I am glad that man came along...angel or not...I believe God sent him there.

A great story and yes, I believe in angels. I will tell about one in my Thankful Thursday later today.

Thanks for sharing,

GOD indeed has his angels assigned to us and at times sends people in the form of angels to cover us. I have had instances in my personal life where I knew for certain that GOD had sent someone along that was MORE...MUCH more than just a human being :)

Great sharing! Love you Sis!

What a great story!

M. Scott Peck, a counselor, said someone is watching over us otherwise we would have more tragedies than what we do. Been a while since I read his book, but he thought it might be angels.

Edie, Thanks for visiting my friend Steve's blog.

I beleive in angels too and agree that this might have been one of them. You never know who they are so you better be nice to everyone. :)

I sometimes wonder, when we get to heaven will we be shown a video clip of all the times God sent our Angels in to protect us during the course of a day.
